Annual Report 2023/2024

Last year, almost 1000 people shared their experiences of health and social care services with us. Our annual report highlights all the ways we've used your feedback to improve care, plus our plans for the year ahead.

You told us about your experiences of getting support for the menopause, and on our recommendation, the Women's Health Steering Group has committed to working with GP surgeries to ensure women can access clinicians with a particular interest in the condition.

We updated our pre-health check questionnaire for people with a learning disability, continuing to improve outcomes for patients. Parents of children with mental health issues told us they didn't know where to turn, so we created an infographic showing the support available and the routes into receiving it.

Our new feedback dashboard has allowed us to create bespoke reports for different sectors and service providers, giving up-to-date access to residents' experiences of care.

We've spoken to hundreds of people in our Healthwatch hub and offered a space for community partners to carry out public engagement. Our annual report also includes testimony from our dedicated volunteers, and information about our finances and future priorities.

The value of listening - annual report 2023/2024

Over the coming year, we're looking forward to:

  • Completing our final two of six Enter and View visits to inpatient mental health wards, managed by Avon and Wiltshire Mental Health NHS Partnership Trust.
  • Gathering the experiences of people who are refugees and asylum seekers.
  • Continuing to build our team of incredible volunteers.
  • Attending community events across the local area.
  • Understanding how to better meet online and digital health and care support needs.
  • Monitoring the improvement of services.
  • And so much more!

Strategically, we continue to represent the public lived experience at all levels of the health and care system...This gives us a wide understanding and an opportunity to make an impact.
